Roman Shades - How to Measure Your Window
1) Measure with a steel tape, rather than cloth. If you are measuring for an inside mounted roman shade, you may still need a cloth tape to more accurately fit into the window frame. Measure to the nearest 1/8".2) Clearly indicate for us width & height measurements. Your roman shades are custom made to these specs, so take your time. Tell us if you are using an Inside or Outside Mount. 3) Never take any deductions from your measurements. We will adjust for proper fitting & operation of the roman shades. Roman Shades - Inside Mount 
1) For an Inside Mounted roman shade, measure the Inside Width at the top, center & bottom of the window. Don't be surprised if your windows are not square. Write down for us the narrowest width.2) Measure the Inside Length at the left, middle & right of the window. Write down for us the longest length. Roman shades need a minimum depth of 1 1/2" in the window frame to allow for proper mounting of the headrail, which is 1 1/2" deep. The roman shade mounts flush to the headrail at top and on the sides, so it will be completely concealed behind the shade. Hobbled roman shades need a minimum depth of 3", to allow for the extra bulk of the shades. If you don't have this clearance, switch to an Outside Mount. Roman Shades - Outside Mount 
1) For an Outside Mounted roman shade, measure the Outside Width as shown in the illustration. If there is room, add at least 3" to each side, a total of 6", for maximum privacy & sun shade.2) Measure the Outside Length as shown in the illustration. You must add at least 2" to the length at top for the headrail. If you want to add additional length at bottom, watch out for the size of your window sill. The roman shade will stop and rest on the ledge. |
